The CARO Centre also appoints “neutral third parties”, generally arbitrators or mediators, upon parties' request.
In this instance, the CARO Centre is not responsible for the supervision of the ensuing proceedings once the appointment is completed.
The appointment of a neutral third party can take place for instance in the context of ad hoc arbitration proceedings, not supervised by an arbitration institution. This appointment can also take place further to the request of the arbitration institution in charge of supervising the dispute, if it did not succeed in appointing a professional with the profile requested.
The Centre also appoints experts, who intervene in the context of an ongoing dispute settlement procedure, or even outside such procedures.
An expert brings some insight on a specific technical issue, the importance of which is key to entities in a legal relationship.
