Everyone at the OHADAC Regional Arbitration Centre (CARO Centre) is delighted to have participated in Paris Arbitration Week 2023, which took place from 27 to 31 March 2023.
Paris Arbitration Week is a major event in the world of international arbitration. It brings together professionals from the legal sector, arbiters, lawyers, universities and representatives of arbitration institutions from all across the world, to discuss the latest developments and challenges facing international arbitration.
Marie-Camille Pitton was invited to participate in a round table entitled “Legislating for international arbitration in the Caribbean: the journey so far and the road ahead”, alongside internationally recognised experts representing the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking Caribbean. During this discussion she was able to share her expertise in the challenges currently facing arbitration in the Caribbean, and to emphasise the importance of increased collaboration between the different arbitration institutions to improve the efficiency and credibility of arbitration in this region. The theme of sustainable development was also discussed, as cooperation is also necessary in this area.
As the CARO Centre's secretary general, Marie-Camille Pitton possesses a wealth of experience in the field of international arbitration and the resolution of commercial disputes in the Caribbean region. She has also worked closely with the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Corporate Law in Africa (OHADA), and other international arbitration institutions to promote international arbitration in the Caribbean and to increase confidence amongst economic stakeholders in the region.
