The CARO Centre attended the Guadeloupe “Mayors and Territorial Collectivities” Fair at the World Trade Centre Complex in Jarry, Guadeloupe, on June 23 and 24 as an exhibitor.

The fair was organized by the Mayors' Association of Guadeloupe together with, among others, the Guadeloupe Region, the Departmental Council of Guadeloupe, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Islands of Guadeloupe, the Banque des Territoires, EDF, the “Agence de la Transition Ecologique” (ADEME), the “Agence Française de Développement” (AFD) and UDE MEDEF.

The theme of the event centered on the Economy of Guadeloupe: Developing Sustainable Towns and Territories by 2030. The fair spotlighted the energy transition in the Territories, with particular emphasis on the projects carried out by the Collectivities and companies that will help the archipelago reach energy autonomy by 2030. The actions undertaken by the Collectivities were highlighted, especially the public procurement policy geared towards developing renewable energies and technological innovation.

The elected officials, together with representatives of companies and the Collectivities, took turns to underline the climate emergency. They also described the large-scale projects carried out by the Collectivities regarding sustainable urban planning, geothermal and photovoltaic energy, and digital development in particular.

The fair was rounded off by EDF Archipel Guadeloupe with the screening of the film Energies insulaire. Histoire de l'électricité en Guadeloupe together with a debate on the subject of energy transition.

The event afforded the CARO Centre an opportunity to contribute to the discussions and highlight the supportive role that alternative dispute resolution methods can play: structuring and executing projects more efficiently through project mediation; surmounting legal issues through expert assessment; preventing and bridging disputes through mediation; and anticipating the risks of future litigation through arbitration, especially for projects with an international dimension.

The team responsible for the CARO Centre is particularly happy that it was given the opportunity to take part in these rewarding days events so that it can embed its actions in the dynamic process led by the Territories.
