CARO Centre Information and Training Days
The CARO Centre's first Information and Training and Days were held on April 5-7.
This series of events was an opportunity to introduce the Centre's premises in Pointe-à-Pitre, welcome the public, present the range of services on offer and distribute the CARO services pack - all by means of round tables, webinars, workshops and B2B meetings.
The event was organized as follows:
(i) Open Day
The Open Day was an opportunity to welcome the public to a tour of our premises, and to organize a round table in the morning based on the services offered by the CARO Centre, with the following speakers:
- Marie-Camille Pitton, Secretary General of the CARO Centre
- Solène Balaguette, legal practitioner at the CARO Centre
- Maître Elisabeth Calonne, lawyer at the Bar of Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy and mediator
- Raïssa Goubin Kern, policy officer at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Islands of Guadeloupe (CCIIG) within the Team France Export International Platform
- Maître Romain Carayol, lawyer at the Paris Bar, arbitrator, mediator and mediation trainer
- Christophe Louis, elected member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Islands of Guadeloupe (CCIIG)
The round table was used to facilitate a discussion with the audience, made up of leading figures with various profiles: lawyers, business leaders, a mayor, the policy officer from the Department of Cooperation, and a legal practitioner.
Individual meetings with interested parties were organized in the afternoon in the form of B2B and the presentation of the CARO services pack.
(ii) April 6 training for lawyers and chartered accountants in Guadeloupe
A training course on the services provided by the CARO Centre was held on April 6 for lawyers and chartered accountants from Guadeloupe at the World Trade Centre Complex in Jarry, Guadeloupe.
This training was facilitated by:
- Marie-Camille Pitton, Secretary General of the CARO Centre
- Maître Elisabeth Calonne, lawyer and mediator
- Maître Romain Carayol, lawyer at the Paris Bar, arbitrator, mediator and mediation trainer
A dozen participants attended the training, including lawyers, the vice-president of the Union of Young Lawyers of Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, and a representative of the president of the Bar of Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.
A presentation was given on the CARO Centre's services in the morning, with an overview of the regulatory framework for using arbitration and mediation, as well as a training course on using the CARO pack, consisting of the following documents:
- A brochure about the services provided by the CARO Centre
- The CARO Centre's fee structures
- The mediation and arbitration clauses to be included in agreements
- A compromise template for accessing the arbitration service offered by the CARO Centre
- Model requests for the different services provided by the CARO Centre
The afternoon was devoted to practical mediation training based on a case study drawn from a dispute between partners in the same company.
(iii) April 7 training for public bodies
A training course on the services offered by the CARO Centre was held on April 7 for the Guadeloupe Territorial Collectivities at the World Trade Centre Complex in Jarry, Guadeloupe.
This training was facilitated by:
- Marie-Camille Pitton, Secretary General of the CARO Centre
- Maître Lionel Armand, lawyer at the Bar of Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, specialist in public, environmental and property law
- Maître Romain Carayol, lawyer at the Paris Bar, arbitrator, mediator and mediation trainer
This training was attended by various participants: the magistrate responsible for mediation in the Administrative Courts of Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy; the chief of staff of the North Basse-Terre Agglomeration Community (CANBT); the head of public procurement at CANBT; a legal consultant; elected members of the Regional Council; and a legal practitioner from the Grand Port Maritime de Guadeloupe.
The afternoon was devoted to practical mediation training based on a case study drawn from a disagreement in a Territorial Collectivity.
These events highlighted the needs regarding the use of the services offered by the CARO Centre, from a variety of stakeholders.
